Closet Organizers

IKEA PAX Organizer

You will typically save 50% or more on closet organizers versus hiring a budget box store supplier such as Home Depot. The savings increase when compared to hiring companies that advertise and have showrooms.

How do we do that?

We use Ikea materials which offer unbeatable value. Ikea has thought of everything when it comes to closet organizers. They produce in huge volumes and ship in flat packs. That means nobody can match them for pricing and we don’t mark up prices.

Our designer and installers have extensive experience with the two Ikea closet organizer lines and you can hire them directly. No mark ups, no hidden costs, no profits.

Don’t be fooled by claims about the low quality of Ikea products. Competitors will point out that Ikea cabinets use foldable backs and that the walls (gables) and shelves are not solid wood. They are correct on both points. Idea uses light weight foldable back walls to facilitate cost effective shipping knowing that they are not weight bearing. Ikea also knows that their technologically advanced light weight end gables and shelves are actually stronger than “real wood” and are produced at a fraction of the weight and cost. Ikea cabinet components don’t shrink or warp and their surface finishes are perfect or you can return them for up to a full year for a refund. The fact that Ikea has figured it out and has built a better mousetrap doesn’t make them low quality.

Most of the cabinetry that you find in stores or online is produced elsewhere and shipped flat pack to Canada where it gets assembled. That is the source of the real difference in pricing as stores have to cover rent, marketing, utilities, staffing, advertising, and you guessed it, profits.

Can you install your own cabinet organizers yourself? Absolutely.

We would never discourage anyone from DIY projects that save money. You may find it more difficult than anticipated but as long as you have time and lots of patience, it can be rewarding.

Why would you hire a designer to as anyone can use a measuring tape and the products are all listed on the Ikea website?

A designer knows the sizes, function, and part numbers of everything that Ikea sells. That allows for ideal spacing so that drawers and pull outs can operate without banging into closet doors or return walls. He will customize section sizes to maximize the width of your space and know what heights to create for hanging clothes and shelves. It all becomes second nature after you have done it a few dozen times.

Why would you hire a designer to install the parts when Ikea has thought of everything?

Ikea creates uniform sizes and parts to keep costs down. They also create installation manuals for beginners so that anyone with a screwdriver and a tape measure can install Ikea products themselves.

A pro will bring a laser level, a stud finder, drills, clamps, saws, an oscillating tool, a grinder, and whatever else is needed. He will also bring screws and brackets to secure everything in place.

Why would anyone need so many tools when the products are designed to be installed by a beginner?

Our goal is to create a closet organizer on a budget that looks and operates like a custom unit. Once you hang your clothes and fill the drawers and pullouts, the only difference between your closet organizer and an expensive unit will be how much money you spent.

Everyone has different tastes and budgets so there is no such thing as making a wrong decision. We have built hundreds of custom cabinets but when it comes to closet organizers, we choose to focus our efforts on the “best bang for your buck” system that we tweak to look and function like a custom unit.

IKEA AURDAL Organizer

Ikea has two lines of closet organizers: Aurdal and Pax

The AURDAL system is only 15″ deep and is designed for tight spaces. Despite the narrow depth dimension, the system allows for hanging clothes. That makes them ideal for existing closets with sliding doors or for small walk-in closets that are tucked away. The Aurdal system can incorporate drawers and baskets and shoe racks just like any other closet organizer system.

The PAX system is 23″ deep and typically incorporates doors to hide things away. This system is ideal for wardrobes or larger walk-in closets where you want more of a “furniture” look.

Ikea will pick and pack your order and ship it to your condo unit for $59 which is incredible value.

Can you do it yourself?

Yes you can. Unless you have done lots of Ikea installations, give yourself lots of time as the instruction manuals are not intuitive and the learning curve is real. We would never try to discourage do-it-yourselfers.

Why use CDG?

Our designer has installed Ikea products for years, so he knows what it takes to maximize both function and appearance. He knows everything there is to know about the Ikea products so you get the most utility out of your space.

Our installers have been installing Ikea closet organizers for years. They have the knowledge and tools to get the job done right and on time. A pro brings much more to the table than a screwdriver and a manual.

Unbeatable value!
